Contest Winners
Thanks to everyone who submitted designs and helped decide the new look for the Hokie Express by ranking the top five Design Your Ride Contest entries! The winners are:
First Place: Entry 4 by David Elmore
Second Place: Entry 2 by Carter Reed
Third Place: Entry 1 by Benjamin Hannam
The bus bearing the first place design will be unveiled in February 2008.
About the contest
Orange Bowl bus wrap
The Design Your Ride Contest aims to raise awareness and increase ridership on the Hokie Express bus route. The winning contest entry will be printed on wraps (like those adhered to BT buses in celebration of the Hokies' advance to the 2006 Orange Bowl). The winning design will adorn the Hokie Express buses for at least three years.
University ID holders (individuals with a Virginia Tech PID) will submit artwork electronically. A panel of judges will determine five finalists and ask the campus community to choose first, second and third place winners. The first place winner's artwork will be placed on the buses. In addition, first, second and third place winners will receive cash prices.
Prizes!
First Prize: $200 in Town of Blacksburg downtown merchant gift certificates. In addition, the winning design will be the basis for the new look of the Hokie Express.
Second Prize: $150 in Town of Blacksburg downtown merchant gift certificates
Third Prize: $100 in Town of Blacksburg downtown merchant gift certificates

- Read the contest rules.
- Download the bus wrap templates. They're available as a single Adobe Acrobat document or as three JPEG files (part 1, part 2, and part 3).
- Read the instructions on the templates.
- Start designing! You can print out the templates to draw or paint your design or work digitally. If your design is created on a printout, you'll need to scan or digitally photograph your design for submission.
- Submit your design online.
The submission form will allow you to upload one file. It must be less 1 MB or less and in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) or a JPEG.The submission deadline has passed. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Timeline
- October 12: Artwork submission deadline
- Mid-October: Contest judges announce five finalists
- Late October: Campus community votes on first, second and third place winners
- November 2007 - January 2008: Production of bus wraps with winning design
- February 2008: Unveiling of winning design
